Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
Hockey Draw is made by Sideline Edge, a Canadian company. This page explains what we keep about you and your team, why we keep it, and who can see it. We follow Canada's privacy law for businesses (PIPEDA).
The short version: we keep what you put into Hockey Draw so the app works for you. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and we don't use it to track you around the web.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address and password (stored scrambled, so no one can read it). If you sign in with Google, we get your name and email address from Google. We also keep your answers from the welcome setup, like your team's age and level.
- What you make: drills, practice plans, notes, tags, pictures you add and video links.
- Your team list: the names, numbers and positions of your players and coaches. It also keeps the email addresses and phone numbers you add, which for players are usually a parent's.
- Emails we send for you: who a practice email went to and when, and anyone who asked to stop getting them.
- Your email choices: whether you agreed to tips and offers by email, when, and the exact words you agreed to.
- Associations: if your association adds you, we keep your membership, your teams and what you post to the association.
- Basic records our hosting keeps to run the service and stop abuse, like the time of a request and the address it came from.
Your players' information
Most players are children. They don't have accounts and never sign in. When you add a player or a parent's email, you're telling us you have the right to, usually because your team or association collects it for the season. Only add what you need: a first name and number is enough to plan a practice.
We only use a player's or parent's email to send the practice emails you choose to send. Every one of those emails has a link to stop getting them. We never send them our own marketing.
Why we use it
- To run your account and keep your drills, plans and team the same on every device.
- To send the emails you ask for, like practice emails and sign-in links.
- To send you emails about your account, like your trial ending.
- To send you tips, new features and offers, only if you ticked the box. You can turn this off in Settings or from the link in any of those emails.
- To fix problems, keep the service safe and make it better.
Who can see it
- You. Your drills, plans and team are private to your account unless you share them.
- People you share with. When you share a practice or drill link, anyone who has the link can see what you put in it. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Your association. If you belong to one, its admins can see your email, your teams and what you post to it. Posts stay with the association if you leave. They can't see your own drills, plans or team list unless you post them.
- Companies that run parts of Hockey Draw for us: Supabase (our database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting the website), Resend (sending email) and Google (only if you use Google sign-in). If we add paid plans online, a payment company will handle your card; we never see or keep card numbers. These companies may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where their local laws apply.
- Video sites. When you play a YouTube or Vimeo video in Hockey Draw, that site loads in the player and has its own privacy policy.
- The law. We'll share information if the law requires it.
We don't sell or rent anyone's information.
On your device
Hockey Draw keeps a copy of your drills and plans in your browser so it works at the rink without internet, and it remembers that you're signed in. It doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your drills, plans, team list and account within 30 days, except what we must keep by law, such as records of email consent. Copies in our backups are gone within a further 30 days.
Your choices
- You can see and change most of your information in the app at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete your account.
- You can stop marketing emails in Settings → Account or from the link in any of them.
- A parent can ask us to remove their child's information. We'll also let the coach know, since it's their team list.
Email sidelineedge1@gmail.com for any of these. We'll answer within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over secure connections, passwords are scrambled, and each account can only read its own data. No system is perfect: if something goes wrong that puts your information at risk, we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we'll tell you by email or in the app first.
